Our Focus:
We believe that solid skills in reading, written
expression and overall organizational ability are fundamental
requirements for successful education.
Our focus is to develop independent effective
learning skills so that our clients can undertake new learning
experiences with confidence.
Our goal is to give every client the skills
and self confidence to take on any learning task or job. To achieve
this goal, strengths and weaknesses are identified, enabling us
to teach the client how to learn, and to apply acquired knowledge
to new, challenging situations.
Our Methodology:
a. Initial interview and evaluation:
This helps us determine individual needs and
requirements. They allow us to develop an understanding of past
and present difficulties and current level of achievement. A detailed
analysis of this information is used to develop specific approaches
and techniques to correct underlying problems. This plan becomes
the basis of each client’s individualized program.
b. Diagnostic testing:
Comprehensive testing by a psychologist is
available to identify skill deficiencies processing difficulties,
learning problems, and strengths. The battery of diagnostic instruments
provides information on intelligence, learning style and achievement.
It also identifies attention deficit disorder and language / learning
disabilities or dyslexia. After a comprehensive battery, a detailed
analytical report with specific recommendations is presented and
explained in a follow up meeting. Based on this report and our
years of experience, learning styles and teaching strategies are
determined.
c. Consulting:
If needed, consultations with resource people
available at our premises is arranged. These include mental health
specialists, educationists, counselors, physiotherapist, occupational
therapists, and speech and language therapists.
d. Teaching methods:
Our client / teacher ratio is one on one.
An experienced, qualified teacher is chosen, based on skills,
personality and client needs. Each client works with the same
teacher until goals are met or circumstances suggest a change
is needed. The original plans and approaches are monitored and
modified and changed frequent observations and formal reviews.
Progress reports are regularly provided to parents.
A highly structured, multi sensory teaching
approach, and a warm, nurturing learning environment ensures that
students experience success in developing new skills.
Counseling and behavior modification:
Counseling is provided to clients as well as parents. This helps
them understand the nature of the problem. Positive behavior management
techniques are presented which help them cope and react in more
positive and socially acceptable ways.
