This section of the school caters to the needs of children who are diagnosed as being mentally handicapped as measured on an intelligence test.
IBP staff is specially trained to address the needs of children with various problems such as:
* Down's Syndrome.
* Autism
* Cerebral Palsy
* Brain damage due to illness or injury
* Attention Deficit Disorders
* Hyper Kinetic Syndrome
* Epilepsy or convulsive seizures
Academics:
As per the ability of the child, one language and basic mathematical skills are taught.
Others work on the improvement of cognitive skills, fine motor development, gross motor skills, self help skills, personal and social skills, and language and communication.
Cognitive development:
The development of all types of mental activities, and functions,
Including perception, attention, memory, imagery developmental processes and problem solving.
Fine motor development:
The development of skills involving the use of hands, and fingers,
manipulating them in a controlled fashion and using both hand cooperatively.
Gross motor development:
The development of control over the larger muscles of the body,
With special emphasis on developing muscle strength, energy balance and poise.
Self help skills:
These include the skills necessary for independent functioning,
such as feeding, bathroom training, washing and dressing.
Personal & Social skills:
Activities used to teach new skills and concepts that promote social
behavior and interaction.
Language skills:
Development of the ability to understand and use words and
sentences in meaningful communication.
